Samhain Portal Yggdrasil Magickal Intensive - Initiation into the Ancient Norse Runes Samhain marks the final harvest of the year, as celebrated in the pagan calendar. This festival coincides with modern Halloween celebrations but has its roots in the ancient past. The final harvest was when the people had to decide which animals they would keep and feed through the winter; and which they would slaughter for food to nourish them through the dark months. These life and death decisions had far-reaching implications. The tribe could starve or find themselves without enough healthy livestock to reproduce in the following year if decisions weren’t well made. So the Samhain Portal energy invites us to take stock of where we are and where we want to be. The season offers us and opportunity to choose our direction for the coming months. This festival is the “real” new year celebration! This is the point at which the past is left behind and the decisions that will inform the future are made mindfully. Additionally, at this time of the year, the veil between the worlds is at its most tenuous. Our psychic senses are heightened; our magickal and spiritual gifts are intensified; and our connection with deities, spirits, and ancestors is deepened. The combination of celestial energies lends itself to deep healing & spiritual initiation work. And this intensive harnesses the sacred power of the energetic tides for this purpose. By awakening the ancient & limitless runes within your energy field, you will be able to access the infinite energy of the Elder Futhark to empower you and enhance your healing practice; or work with them in ritual, magick, and meditation to accelerate your journey to wholeness, enrich your manifesting/spell work, or develop your intuition & divination skills. The ancient runes are connected with the All-Father God of the Norse Tradition, Odin. Odin is depicted as a god of magick, poetry, inspiration, and self-realisation. In particular, he is the god of the runes. These are sacred symbols that represent and convey streams of universal power that can be used to manifest magick, healing, and spiritual integration. Each rune has unique powers and properties, and can be used to connect with high-frequency energy flows. Channelling these energies when you work with them after the completion of the ritual means they continue to strengthen within you. In the ancient myths, Odin is said to have sacrificed himself by hanging upside down from the world-tree, Yggdrasil. This myth reveals that transcending the ego allows us to connect deeply with the powers that underpin the universe. The names “Yggdrasil” means “Odin’s Horse”. This “kenning” helps us understand Odin’s power as a shaman who is able to access different realms of existence. Through his shamanic ritual of sacrifice, he was able to perceive the runes and accept their magick as part of himself. Awakening the runic archetypes within the psyche can bring gifts of healing, psychism, wisdom, foresight, and magickal ability. This intensive has 24 rituals: one for each of the runes that form the 'Elder Futhark'. Information on the runes will be provided and participants will perform a daily meditation during which they will receive an energy transmission that integrates that runic frequency into the energy body. If you are not already attuned to the Run Valdr system, you will be attuned to it before the ritual intensive starts so that you can also work with the additional symbols. The “Shambul” symbol (which you are attuned to in Run Valdr) is used during your meditation, to receive the energy transmissions for the 24 runes. The opening ritual will be on the 31st October and the ritual will be completed over 24 consecutive nights. The energy transmissions will be prepared using the Orb of Life method so you can receive them at your convenience and there are no time limits for calling your energy transmissions in.
